People who choose to practice yoga are often in search of good health and relief from stress. The ancient Eastern regimen, which promotes deep breathing, relaxation and soothing postures, can also help individuals who are struggling with physical and mental disorders.

Tampa Bay Online recently reported that engaging in yoga helped a 70-year-old woman overcome her bulimia. Joy Tapper, a widow, mother and grandmother, reported that the eating disorder had plagued her for 55 years and that she did not overcome it until she encountered yoga.

"It had been with me all the time. I never thought that I would get rid of it," Tapper confessed to the news source. "Yoga [enhances] mind, body and spirit. If you can't be healthy in one of them, you can't be healthy in any of them."

After she began regularly attending classes, Tapper realized that her trigger for bulimia was stress. The soothing exercise enabled her to get over her anxiety and overcome her illness. Through yoga, she was able to achieve her full potential and live a more fulfilling life.
