With the arrival of spring comes the opportunity to participate in all of the outdoor activities that you haven't done since the fall. Whether it's biking, rollerblading, swimming or long-distance running, the longer, warmer days can be a great chance to go out and exercise. According to the Ottawa Citizen, getting back into your workout after a hard winter can be facilitated by incorporating a little yoga into your cross-training regimen.

All athletes – from skiers and runners to bikers and tennis players – can benefit from adopting the holistic mind-body system, which can be a great way to achieve good health. Many sports are beneficial to the heart but may be taxing on the joints and muscles. Those who engage in frequent exercise often experience tight hips, glutes, quads, hamstrings, calves, shoulders, neck and lower back.

By performing the deep breathing techniques, gentle poses and rejuvenating stretches of yoga, active individuals can enhance their strength, flexibility and stamina.

Making sure to fully stretch the body and relax may not only enhance physical endurance, but could also benefit an individual's mental and emotional well-being.
