Try these tai chi exercises if you are stressed out from a hectic lifestyle
Think about your daily responsibilities. Are you constantly meeting tight deadlines? Do you have a strict schedule to follow? Do you juggle both personal and professional duties? If so, you may be feeling as though you need to engage in a little universal energy healing. A hectic lifestyle can cause the delicate connection between the mind and the body to fray, taking you further away from optimal well-being.
The good news is that a holistic exercise like yoga or tai chi can help bring you closer to your full potential. A mindfulness regimen that incorporates deep, measured breathing, in addition to gentle poses and rejuvenating stretches, can help you feel calmer and more centered. In turn, better physical, emotional and mental health allows you to improve your productivity and strengthen your relationship with those around you.
According to the Herndon Patch, September has been designated National Yoga Month by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Why not honor this observance by trying a few tai chi exercises? The following poses may be just what you need to relax and ease tension.
1. Stand with your back straight and your feet shoulder-width apart. Slowly raise each arm up until your palms meet above your head.
2. Bend your torso slightly forward and move it clockwise five times. Repeat in the other direction.
3. Now, stretch your arms out to each side. Twist your torso very gently from side to side, breathing deeply as you go. Repeat 20 times.
4. Move your feet close together and extend your arms back, straightening the fingers. Lean back slowly so that you are looking up at the sky. Return to your original position and repeat 10 times.
